The coverage differs based on the chosen plan: Essential, Premier, or Premier Plus.

Essential

  • Vet Fees: Up to €1,500 per period for injuries and illnesses caused by accidents, covered for up to 12 months per accident.
  • Third-Party Liability: For dogs, up to €250,000.

Premier

  • Vet Fees: Up to €4,000 per period for identifiable illnesses or injuries, covered for up to 12 months per condition.
  • Third-Party Liability: For dogs, up to €250,000.
  • Boarding Fees: Up to €500 if you’re hospitalized for over four consecutive days.
  • Advertising and Reward: Up to €500 for advertising costs and €200 for a reward if your pet is lost or stolen.
  • Loss Due to Theft or Straying: Reimbursement of your pet’s purchase price up to €500 (or market value if no receipt).
  • Death from Injury: Reimbursement up to €500 for your pet’s purchase price (or market value if no receipt).
  • Holiday Cancellation: Up to €500 for non-recoverable costs if you cancel your holiday due to your pet’s emergency life-saving surgery.
  • Optional Travel Cover: Includes EU vet fee coverage for up to three trips (30 days each), quarantine costs (€1,500), PET Passport loss (€250), and emergency repatriation (€500).

Premier Plus

  • Vet Fees: Up to €4,000 per period with reinstated cover at renewal. Ongoing conditions remain covered up to the €4,000 limit.
  • Third-Party Liability: For dogs, up to €250,000.
  • Boarding Fees: Up to €1,000 if you’re hospitalized for over four consecutive days.
  • Advertising and Reward: Up to €1,000 for advertising costs and €200 for a reward if your pet is lost or stolen.
  • Loss Due to Theft or Straying: Reimbursement of your pet’s purchase price up to €1,000 (or market value if no receipt).
  • Death from Injury: Reimbursement up to €1,000 for your pet’s purchase price (or market value if no receipt).

The following exclusions apply across different levels of cover: Essential, Premier, and Premier Plus.

General Exclusions for All Plans

  • Pre-existing Conditions: Any injury, illness, or condition that occurred or started showing clinical signs before the policy start date.
  • Injuries or Illnesses Occurring Shortly After Policy Start:
    • For Essential: Injuries occurring within 48 hours of the policy start date.
    • For Premier & Premier Plus: Injuries within 48 hours or illnesses within 14 days of the policy start date.
      (These exclusions do not apply to renewed policies.)
  • Non-Vaccinated Pets: Treatment costs for illnesses preventable through routine vaccinations.
  • Preventative and Elective Treatments: Costs related to routine care, such as examinations, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, nail clipping, flea and worm treatments, or breeding and pregnancy.
  • Restricted Dog Breeds: Third-party liability cover does not apply to breeds restricted under the Control of Dogs Act or its amendments, including but not limited to Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Pit Bull Terrier, and wolf hybrids.
  • Commercial or Security Use: Any incidents involving pets used for commercial purposes, security, racing, or commercial breeding.
  • Business Premises: Incidents occurring at your business or workplace.

The restrictions vary depending on the plan (Essential, Premier, or Premier Plus), but some common rules and limitations apply across all policies.

Common Restrictions

  • Vet Fee Limits:
    • Essential: €1,500 per policy period for accidents.
    • Premier & Premier Plus: €4,000 per policy period for illnesses or injuries.
      Once the limit is reached, no further cover is provided for that period. For renewed policies, the limits reset for new claims.
  • Time Limits for Conditions:
    • Essential & Premier: Coverage for a condition ends 12 months after it begins.
    • Premier Plus: Ongoing conditions are covered if the policy is renewed.
  • Bilateral Conditions: Conditions affecting body parts on both sides of the body (e.g., eyes, hips, or knees) are considered as one condition.
  • Recurring or Ongoing Conditions: These are treated as a single condition and are subject to the same limits.
  • Excess Fees:
    • Fixed excess applies per condition per year.
    • For pets older than five years, a percentage excess of 15% is added to the fixed excess.
  • Cost Changes at Renewal: Premiums and cover terms may change at renewal based on factors such as:
    • Pet’s age.
    • Veterinary cost trends.
    • Amount previously claimed.

Plan-Specific Restrictions

  • Essential: Coverage is limited to accidents only. No coverage for illnesses.
  • Premier & Premier Plus: Includes up to €250 for complementary medicine.

Coverage varies depending on the product and optional add-ons.

Essential

  • Republic of Ireland: Full coverage.
  • Northern Ireland: Vet fee cover for up to 30 days during the policy period.

Premier & Premier Plus

  • Republic of Ireland: Full coverage.
  • Northern Ireland: Vet fee cover for up to 30 days during the policy period.
  • Optional Travel Cover (if selected): Extends vet fee cover to EU countries for a maximum of three trips, with each trip lasting up to 30 days.
