The latest Superb model from Škoda is building upon its predecessors’ legacy with enhanced design, increased space and comfort, and cutting-edge technology. Available in both a Combi estate and hatchback version, the new Superb integrates sustainable solutions, such as fabrics made from entirely renewable resources. The Smart Dials by Škoda and a new 13-inch infotainment screen enhance the tactile and user experience. The interior design is uncluttered and spacious. Škoda has also refined its powertrains for better efficiency.
John Donegan, Brand Director at Škoda Ireland, commented, “For over two decades, the Superb has been a cornerstone of the Škoda range. This fourth-generation model introduces added sophistication, sculptural design, superior spaciousness, and state-of-the-art technology. With many competitors exiting the large saloon segment, our customers now have a premium alternative that stands out in space and value.”
Fuel efficiency and performance have been improved thanks to thoughtful design and aerodynamic tweaks. Škoda has streamlined the engine options in Ireland to a 1.5 TSI mHEV (150 hp) and a 2.0 TDI (150bhp) diesel. All new Superb models come with DSG automatic transmissions, as manual gearboxes are phased out. The 1.5 TSI hatchback’s fuel consumption is a modest 5.4 liters per 100 km, with prices commencing at €48,325 in the “Selection” trim.
The 2.0 TDI starts at €48,825 and boasts fuel consumption of just 5.1 liters per 100km, compatible with diesel or HVO. For an additional €2,000, customers can upgrade to the Combi estate, which has a generous 690-liter luggage capacity.
Both the hatchback and estate variants of the Superb have grown in length and height, with the same wheelbase as before. When the rear seats are folded down, the Combi’s total boot capacity is a remarkable 1,920 liters.
Škoda offers three specification levels, with the “Selection” including keyless entry, an alarm system, and an electric boot door. The “Selection Plus” adds heated and ventilated leather seats and ambient interior lighting. A plush “Laurin & Klement” model is also available. A “SportLine” version will be revealed at the end of 2024, with deliveries slated for early 2025.
Safety and comfort are further enhanced by improved assistance systems. The new Superb introduces optional LED Matrix beam headlights and DCC Plus (Dynamic Chassis Control). The interior features a new concept with a free-standing display up to 13 inches in size. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, allowing for a more spacious center console. The Superb now also offers a head-up display option. The new Smart Dials by Škoda provide quick access to vehicle and infotainment functions.
Design Selections, first seen in the all-electric Enyaq, offer themed packs and individual options. New additions include 15-watt fast inductive charging, simultaneous smartphone cooling, and Ergo seats with 10 massage cushions. The Combi’s electric load cover is one of 28 new Simply Clever features.
Since its launch in 2001, over 1.6 million Škoda Superbs have been produced. In Ireland, the Superb has led its segment for the past 7 years, with over 9,000 units delivered. The model continues to be in high demand, with 2023 being its third most successful sales year. The Combi represents 19% of total sales, with 41% of Superbs going to fleet customers.
The new Škoda Superb and Superb Combi are now available for order, with demos arriving at authorized dealers in May.
