The most recent AA Fuel Survey for October indicates a continued decrease in fuel prices throughout Ireland, marking the third consecutive month of reductions. Petrol costs have declined by 2 cents per litre, bringing the national average to β¬1.72 per litre, while diesel prices have also fallen by 1 cent per litre, now averaging β¬1.66 per litre. These price drops offer much-needed relief to drivers navigating the fluctuating fuel market, particularly amidst crude oil prices hovering around $74 per barrel.
Good News for Electric Vehicle (EV) Owners
The benefits of falling energy costs aren’t limited to petrol and diesel drivers. Electric vehicle (EV) owners are also experiencing reduced expenses this month. On average, an EV owner can anticipate spending β¬808.64 annually for 17,000 km, representing a decrease of approximately β¬49 compared to previous months. This reduction is attributed to the lower standard 24-hour energy rates provided by Energia. As energy rates continue to drop, EV drivers can expect even further savings in the coming months, with Electric Ireland set to introduce lower rates from November 1st.
