Travelling with children can sometimes be difficult, and you may not want to travel for longer than necessary. So, we’ve put together the top family holiday destinations 4 hours from Ireland.
Glasgow, Scotland
Why not visit Scotland? Glasgow is its largest city and is just over an hour flight from Ireland. It contains amazing museums and galleries, an excellent range of bars and restaurants, beautiful parks and attractions and great retailer outlets. What’s not to love?
Algarve, Portugal
Day cruises, bus tours, hiking trails, nature and wildlife tours, whale watching, sun, sand, sea. You’ll find this and more at The Algarve, along with great family friendly resorts. There are lots of pubs and restaurants dotted around and it is one of the most popular destinations for Irish people. It’s just over 2 hours on a plane.
Majorca, Balearic Islands
Majorca is definitely the most popular out of the Balearic Islands as it is home to the Alcudia, Cala Bona, Magaluf, Puerto Pollensa and Santa Ponsa resorts and is surrounded by sun, sand and sea. But, it’s a lot more than just a sun holiday, as it has olive farms, ochre villages, a great nightlife as well as showcasing its amazing Spanish culture. Don’t get us wrong, the beaches are great for kids too! If you’re catching a flight, the trip to Majorca is a little over 2 hours.
Pisa, Italy
Pisa is fantastic for any family holiday, with its great landmarks, cuisine, the famous leaning tower and beautiful riverside location. Pisa is a great city break less than 3 hours from Dublin, it’s full of history so why not add this to the list.
Corfu, Greece
A place that Irish people love to go to.. Corfu we’re looking at you!
It’s located just off the coastline of mainland Greece and the south of the island has amazing beaches, while the north contains mountainous terrain. If you like olives then this place is for you – it has over 2 million olive trees on the island. There are clubs for kids, relaxing beaches and pools and of course Corfu is home to Aqualand which is one of Europe’s most popular waterparks. A fabulous destination to bring kids, and it’s just over 3 hours on a plane.
Bilbou, Spain
Bilbou in Spain is a gorgeous city and great place for a family trip. It has amazing museums like The Guggenheim, beautiful parks, the Painted Forest of Oma, food stalls, Casco Viejo (Bilbao’s Old Town) which is a lot of fun, bike tours, boat tours, markets and kayaking. There is so much to enjoy in this city, and you can get there in almost 2 hours.
Prague, Czech Republic
Is Prague the most romantic city? Don’t ask Paris..
This beautiful city contains historic, colourful buildings such as Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, but it also has great wine bars, fantastic beer and sophisticated shops. It is about a 2 and a half hour flight from Ireland.
