• Petrol: increases by 1c per litre to average of €1.74 per litre
• Diesel: increases by 3c per litre to average of €1.71 per litre
The latest AA Ireland Fuel Survey reveals an increase in petrol and diesel prices for
December.
According to the survey, petrol prices have risen by 1 cent to an average of €1.74 per litre,
while diesel prices have increased by 3 cents this month to €1.71 per litre. Crude oil prices
remain steady month on month at around $73 per barrel. Electric vehicle owners can expect
to pay an average of €816.62 per year to cover an average of 17,000 km per year.
Jennifer Kilduff, Head of Marketing & PR for the AA (Ireland), said, “Fuel prices have
increased again this month which is disappointing to see. For EV drivers there was also a
slight increase in the average yearly costs and the advice would be to continue to look at
energy providers rates and select a plan that best suits your needs. For example, there are
offers available with Energia at the moment on the EV Smart Drive plan providing low rates
of 7.54c/kWh for charging between 2am and 6am plus you can get €50 cashback. It’s always
a good idea for customers to compare the estimated annual bill when doing their research.”
AA customers can save 3c per litre on petrol and diesel and 6c per litre on milesPlus fuel at
participating Circle K garages using the AA Ireland App.
Keeping your vehicle properly maintained and reducing driving speed this Winter can
improve vehicle fuel efficiency and performance. “The basics such as checking your tyre
pressure and thread depth, fluid levels, and removing any unnecessary weight such as roof
racks can contribute to better fuel efficiency and overall driving performance,” Kilduff
added.
