A network of privatised mobile speed enforcement cameras will go live on Ireland’s roads from Monday. The cameras will be rolled out incrementally over the coming months and will be fully operational by February.
AA is supporting the initiative because:
- Our members support it (67% in favour, 9,000 members polled October 2010).
- Cameras are located at speed blackspots only.
- Private company is NOT incentivised to catch people, they are paid by the hour.
