August Bank Holiday Public Transport Arrangements 2020

Published 30th July 2020Read Time 4 min

The bank holiday weekend is finally upon us, and who knows what the weather has in store! What we do know though, is that schedules for Irish Rail, Luas, Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus and Go Ahead are all slightly different this weekend. Whether you need to grab your floppy sun hat or your umbrella as you head out the door, we have laid all the public transport changes for this weekend out bare for you below.
Before you travel, remember to check the provider’s website or app for specific times and routes. You are now required by law to wear a face covering whilst using public transport, and it’s advisable to pay your fare through contactless methods. Capacity is reduced on most services to allow for physical distancing, so make sure to leave plenty of time for your journey.
We’ll be sharing live travel information throughout the weekend at the AA Roadwatch Newsroom.
Enjoy the weekend, and most importantly, stay safe!

IRISH RAIL (including DART)

Trains will run to the normal Saturday timetable on Saturday (1st). A Sunday timetable will operate on all routes on Sunday (2nd), with some revisions to intercity services.
On Monday (3rd), DART and Connolly commuter services will run to a Sunday schedule, with additional early morning departures.

Heuston commuter services will run to reduced schedules. There will be no Hazelhatch to Grand Canal Dock services. Heuston and Connolly intercity services will run to revised schedules.

An hourly schedule will be in operation on Cork commuter services.

Check your route on the Irish Rail website here.

LUAS

On Saturday (1st) and Sunday (2nd), services will run as normal. On Bank Holiday Monday (3rd), trams will run to a Sunday schedule on both lines.
Full details can be found on the Luas website.

BUS ÉIREANN

Services will run to their usual schedule on Saturday (1st), with a Sunday timetable in operation on Sunday (2nd) and Monday (3rd). Full details are here.
Due to the reduced capacity on Bus Éireann intercity Expressway services, they are advising you to avoid peak times and to only travel if your journey is necessary this weekend.

DUBLIN BUS

Normal weekend timetables will be in operation on Saturday (1st) and Sunday (2nd), with a Sunday schedule in place on Monday (3rd). Plan your route here.

GO AHEAD

Normal schedules apply on Saturday (1st) and Sunday (2nd), while a Sunday timetable will be in place on Monday (3rd). Check your route on the website if you must travel.
